Sometimes when i'm surfing the net all of a sudden i'll get a pop up

I "X" it. Then it shows this page "scanning" my computer with alarming flashing and speed:
and then finally, if you weren't scared enough, that box changes to this:
Then you're heart finally picks up the pace again after nearly dying thinking you're "under attack" and have all these viruses, you realize that it's just a tab in your Firefox---basically a really skunky way to advertise. But i think it's very misleading for those who still think they need to click the Remove All button.

I don't dare click it. I tried going to myprotection-zone.com which is the beginning part of this URL and it wouldn't load. I tried googling it, couldn't find a thing.

I wonder, Who does this scare tactic belong to? Anyone know?

Does anyone else come across this pop-up as well?
