Ok If you have joined in on Google Wave then here are some tips.

First off you will find life much easier if you simply add a picture. Here is a screen shot of my waves (yes I'm pretty new on it too)

google wave tutorial for beginners

Ok you can see with the exception of one friend everyone is a gray face - this is not good because as you can tell above it doesn't say who the wave is from you only see their picture. Its hard to tell one gray face from another. Now yes if you hover over them it says the name but a picture makes it so much easier!

So here are the basics as put by "Doctor Wave" on Google Wave - the videos are short which makes it easier to view:

The Basics

Starting a new wave

A wave can be both a document and a conversation.

Replying to a wave

You can reply anywhere in a wave.

Editing waves

All participants on a wave can edit any part of the wave, at the same time.

Reading through waves

To quickly read through unread blips in a wave, hit the spacebar.

Using Playback

The playback feature lets you move through the history of a wave.

Attaching photos and files

To attach a file to a wave, start in edit mode. Then either:

  • Click the paperclip and select the file from your desktop or
  • To drag and drop right from the desktop into a wave, install Gears in your browser.

Spelling correction

Google Wave’s spelling correction uses the context of your message to correct your spelling.

Scrolling

The scrollbars in Google Wave are a little different.

Organizing your waves

Clearing your inbox

You can remove waves from your inbox in two main ways:

  • Archive: takes a wave out of your inbox until someone updates it
  • Mute: takes a wave out of your inbox unless someone adds a private reply to you

You can always find these waves again by searching for them.

Searching for waves

Use the search box to find waves by typing keywords and advanced search terms.

Creating a saved search

Find a set of waves quickly with a saved search.

Adding tags to a wave

Tags are an easy way participants can share organization of waves. Any participant can add or remove a tag.

Making folders

Create folders to organize your waves.

Now if you're not a member of Google Wave yet and you want to get in on the ground floor then drop me a PM (Note: only Premium Members can PM). Right now its by invite only but I dont mind hooking up a few friends here and there (I have 11 invites let - first come first serve)
