The battery she is refering to is a small battery that you would find like in a wrist watch that is actually on your mother board. It provides the power for your bios. A laptop would be different as you can't easilly get to the mother board. Sometimes there is a jumper on the system board you can pull off and putt back on too that will clear your bois settings. But if you did take off the battery from the system board you only need to pull it off for a few seconds.
Also if you can get into the bois and there is no option to reset the power on pasword just restore the factory defaults in your bios and that would kill any password that is set.
