home addition - no compatibility mode (that is the premium version) 
I reformatted mine in DOS - it wasn't that bad I started it and went to bed. I did get up and look at it in the middle of the night (I was up anyways). I did this: How To Reformat A Hard Drive To FAT32 In Win7 or Vista
Plus the nice thing about doing it via DOS is it totally re-writes the drive. If your looking to really wipe a drive clean that is the way to do it. There is no retrieving the data once on it unless you have a FBI retrieval disk.
