Re: Virus help Duel boot Ubuntu/WindowsVista

Ok that blue screen looks very familiar. You said you purchased the computer with vista on it and now your trying to put XP on it (in a dual boot). Here is my question did you check with the manufacture to see if your motherboard is backwards compatible? I purchases a pc for my office that was vista and tried to downgrade to XP only to find that it was next to being a nightmare because the MB was a vista board and not backwards compatible. Unfortunately because of programs I'm stuck at work in the land of XP Sad

Why are you going from Vista back to XP? If it is a Vista board you can get it to work in XP but it becomes a nightmare with drivers. I also had to use a low level DOS bootdisk to wipe the drive and start over. You can see my rant about that here: clicky. Good Luck.

Anyways check with the manufacture to see if you are backwards compatable. I'm betting your not. You don't have raid set up do you by any chance? Make sure your bios doesn't have you marked as raid.
