i was invited to join in on festivities on a Irc. i have no idea what a Irc is but they gave me a url. i clicked on the url and it asked me to launch a application. what application do i need or do you recommend? what is a Irc? i really just wanted to check it out to see what a Irc was. Laughing

IRC is a chat program. Read more here

I use to use IRC a lot untill a year or so ago for chatting with mates that was in a social group with me.
It is somewhat similar to Skype where you can chat ono-on-one or have a group of people joining into one
conversation. I prefer to use the mIRC client because it is easy to setup and use but at the same tuime very powerfull
if you want to write user scripts etc.

If you don't come right please come back with questions and I am sure someone will be able to answer you. I know DoGG
also have used it in his days. (That is how we met to start off with )
