Re: Haiti, I Feel Bad and you are welcome in my country

Dominican Republic doesn't even want them and they are on the same island. As poor as they are they keep breeding.

Stop breeding? So should their country just die out? Loose all of their history and culture? It is an ignorant and thoughtless statement. One day with help from the global community and the new generations of Haitians they will better their country. Maybe not in our lifetimes but I have faith it will happen one day.

Helping them is one thing but bringing them here is another thing.

It is important to note that TPS will apply only to those individuals who were in the United States as of January 12, 2010. Those who attempt to travel to the United States after January 12, 2010 will not be eligible for TPS and will be repatriated.

Repatriated means we will send them back to where they are from if they attempt to enter the US now. So Obama isn't bringing Haitians here. The ones that are already here can stay here a bit longer if they need to. If I were in Europe and my state was decimated by a natural disaster and there was nothing for me to go back to except death and destruction I would be more than grateful at the opportunity to extend my stay until things at home improved. Now in my current state of being I would go home because I am an able body young man capable of helping fix things. Not everyone is though. I think this is a wonderful gesture and more than appropriate. I hope we don't have to become victims of these types of natural disasters to start showing compassion for other human beings regardless of which continent they were born on.
