I wasn't expecting it to be quite this good, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Based on the novel of the same name, it stars Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon and the young girl is played by Saoirse Ronan. What an adorable kid, so pretty and plays the part extremely well. Set back in the the early 70's it tells the story of how a young girl is abducted and murdered and how she looks over her family from heaven. It was thrilling, suspenseful, unpredictable, sad, and well acted.

Mark is not really his normal hot looking self, he has this 1970's hairstyle that is very unbecoming on him, but he's still pretty awesome. Susan Sarandon is a riot, she plays the chain smoking, scotch drinking grandma and is hilarious but looks very glamorous. The killer is played by Stanley Tucci and is unbelievably creepy.

I haven't read the book which I'm sure is better than the movie, the books usually are. The sexual content is left out of the movie which is probably just as well, it's heartbreaking enough to watch what happens to her without seeing the rape. Overall I thought it was pretty awesome and would definitely recommend it, I'm planning on reading the book real soon, so Thumbs Up for The Lovely Bones.
