If you get no volume at all and you checked like dogg said then go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager
Once you go to Device Manager scroll down till you find your sound and once you find it click on the little + sign on the left of it
Once you do that look to see if you see a little yellow triangle with a ? in it then there is a driver issue. How to fix that is to google your laptop manufacture and model (it will say that in the control Panel). Like mine above (circled in blue) is a HP Pavilion dv7 so I would google "HP Pavilion dv7 drivers". I always download my drivers from the manufactures site, unless they don't have them. If you have the triangle then download the audio drivers and re-install them. If your not sure which is the audio then reply back with your make and model.
