  • Want to stay in charge of your online "footprint"?
  • Hate being so easily Googled?
  • Ever want to visit a website but too embarrassed your partner, roommate, mami or papa might accidentally (or maybe just cause they're stalkers) find out?

Well here are a few things you can do to remedy all that!:

1. Have your name be its own domain. For about $7 GoDaddy can turn your name into a domain. Which will then be at the top of search results. So be sure to go ahead and fill your website up with pics of you doing happy somersaults over your new less-stalkable status.

2. Go here and request any blogs you may have hosted be removed from googles cache. No mess, no fuss. Say sayonara emo-infused blogs about how much you hate your ex. Whom you just got back together with. Woops! That could have been embarrassing.

3. Use Firefox's or Safari's aptly described Porn / Stealth modes to browse the web anonymously. In Google Chrome use "Incognito” mode. These tools allow you to browse while temporarily disabling cookies, browser history, etc. IE 8 took it one step further and also added "In Private Blocking” to their "In Private Browsing.”, which keeps a record of third-party content. When it recognizes a site that may have "seen” you (collected info on you) across 10 sites, it automatically blocks them. So now you can be the adorable little freak you are without anyone having to be the wiser. Smile
