Mobile technology has become so advanced that many people are wondering if mobile telephony will kill the PC. There are some people who think that the PC will be completely replaced while there are other people like Dell CEO, Michael Dell who says that though the mobile will start performing many functions of the PC, it will not completely replace the PC. Michael Dell says that every user will have access to a lot of devices which may be dedicated to a particular task.

With the smartphone you can browse the internet and chat with your friends. You can also connect to social networking websites such as Facebook. But, we think the smartphone will not able to perform all the functions of the computer at least in the next 50 years. Today you can also find devices that can do many functions of the PC. For example, Apple has launched the new iPad which has become a rage today. The other competitors are not far behind. Dell has recently introduced the prototype of Dell’s new smartphone called the Android Streak. Unlike the iPad and much like the PC, this device is capable of running multiple applications. The Streak will be made available in the United States soon.

We presume that one day mobile devices will be able to perform many functions of the PC as the size of the CPU becomes smaller. Scientists at Intel and likewise are doing their best and coming out with processors that will measure a pinpoint and still be able to do billions of operations a second. But you will have to wait a little for this phenomenon. Today just by spending a few hundred dollars you can buy a PC or laptop with which you can literally do anything right from checking your mails to developing high end software programs. The mobile phone and the PC world have a lot to offer at present and in the future, and today both of them compliment each other very well. We can’t imagine typing a 2,000 word report on a micro keyboard on your smart-phone as being a comfortable task.
