I just wanted to say the info you gave is false and misleading I know you were trying to help and this is a old topic but for people who dont know Ubuntu needs NO PARTIONING before installing and is by far the SIMPLEST OS to install by far.

Ubuntu 10.4 is by far better than Windows 7 and the features are getting better and better, to the point Dell is now supporting them on most of their Computers now !

I have installed ubuntu 10.4 on a AcerOne net book ($107 Special), Sony VIAO , Dell Studio 1737 , an old Dell inspirion with 256mb of RAM.

AND THEY ALL WORK FLAWLESSLY !

To step up any Ubuntu as a dual boot is very simple download Ubuntu live cd and click on Wubi icon from CD or
Download a Wubi installer file the install process does everything for you !

Setting up Dual Boot Ubuntu and windows in wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more simple than installing Vista,7 , XP, win98 or win95 for that matter ! Also Ubuntu 10.4 has 32bit & 64 bit versions and way better graphics!

Now if you install Ubuntu and cant figure it out message me! Most of the things Ubuntu has direct fixes for !
