Another day, another online spyware scam.

As part of the shake-up at General Motors, GMAC is now called Ally Bank. Naturally, scam emails are going out asking people to update their old GMAC account record through Ally Bank. DO NOT FOLLOW THE LINK or OPEN THE ATTACHMENT. You will be infected.

I called Ally Bank and was told that they are very aware of the problem and that their security team has stopped the email. The real issue is that millions of people had a GMAC financed car or home loan, and even if that loan account has been closed, the temptation to follow the link is great. Ally Bank Customer Service asked that anyone with questions call 1-877-247-ALLY (2559).
