ok so I'm trying to figure a way to transfer all my data etc from my current 360 hd to a new one I bought today. Is there away to do this without one of the transfer cable things that you have to pay money for?
any help would be appreciated

Re: transferring data from 360 hard drive....

It looks like you can just plug in a Flash DriveFlash Drive, save your data, then copy it onto the new one. According to this page you can only store up to 16GB on it, but I don't know if that just means you'll have to do 16GB at a time (if you have more than that needing to be transferred), or what, but I suppose it can't hurt to see what happens if you plug in something bigger than 16GB, like an external USB hard drive or just a bigger flash. Let us know how it went. Smile

thanks sd. It worked like a charm, although for some reason it didnt copy another gamer tag. My concern is I got a smaller hd than was advertised. I bought it being a 20 gig but its showing like 13 gig free space, and I transferred less than a gig to it. should I take it back? surely XBOXXBOX wouldnt reserve 7 gigs without my knowledge would they?

Glad to hear it all worked out for ya. The XBOXXBOX does reserve alot of space, so no need to return it. Have a looky here: Clicky
