Can someone help me with editing videos without having to do a whole re-encode?

• I have some DIVX & XViD avi videos, some of them have VBR audio in them
• I use Full Processing Mode for video like the help file and other forums have said to use
• I want to use VirtualDub & cut out some of the video that I don't want, + to also shrink the file size some
