So I'm wondering what everyone thinks about all this new spygear out there. From watching over your kids, to spying on your significant other, to all kinds of spying. I love the idea of putting a GPS in my son's car (when he comes of age) and knowing where he goes, its also a test to see if he's lying to me. I also think these types of spygear work well for working parents who hire a new babysitter, anything I suppose that comes to the personal safety of your family. But when does it cross the line?
So you guys know...last weekend both laptops were smashed up. My power cables cut, router destroyed, name it. I have a bashed up hard drive in a worn out laptop that got banged up too. I have no ground to my cable gateway line, and that's causing my internet to crawl.
It took me all week to find some good part of my hard drive to put Vista back on. Right now, I managed to get a version of Ubuntu on here, and that's all I got. I am not 100% sure what exactly I am getting but hoping that by this weekend I can be out of disaster recovery mode.

So a town in Iowa is now starting to accept 911 "text messages" and many others are looking to follow in their footsteps. I don't think its a bad idea really, I'm not sure I could text very well if in an emergency situation, I think it would be way too cumbersome. Maybe in a situation where being quiet is key it would be perfect. It may work out well for the 911 operators though, they won't have to deal with the screaming and hysterics that they deal with now over the phone.
I found this story quite amusing and even a little ironic. A malicious ATM machine strategically placed in a hotel where a "hackers" conference was taking place? AND it was placed outside the hotel security office
"A malicious ATM kiosk was positioned in the conference center of the Riviera Hotel Casino capturing data from an unknown number of hackers attending the DefCon hacker conference before someone noticed something suspicious about the kiosk."
