Health Insurance Partially Reimbursing for Fitness & Wellness Classes

8 replies [Last post]

Wow! I just found out today that my HMO health insurance plan will reimburse me $200 for joining (and utilizing) a gym. They also have other things, like getting $50 a year towards a massage, acupuncture discounts, weight watchers, kids gymnastics/sports classes, etc. Really a wide array of things going on.
I have been wanting to join a gym but ours here that I like is $50/month, which is $600/year. In these difficult times I find it hard to spend money on anything that doesn't make up the bare skeleton of necessary expenditures (i.e. rent, car insurance, etc). If our situation improves some perhaps I will do it.
But I wanted to let you all know, in case your insurance has the same sort of programs! Big Grin Check it out on your insurance provider's website!

WOW that is awesome and its really smart of the insurance companies too. The healthier you are the better health you are in. Kudos to them for figuring it out. Who do you have for health insurance GG?

I know right? It makes complete sense for them to do this. Unity.

Yup mine does the same, but you HAVE to go a certain amount of times, I can't remember how many, then you get the printout from the gym that verifies you actually went, then you get your reimbursement. I haven't availed of it because last time I was attending the gym I didn't meet the required amount Sad

Yeah mine too--it is 60 times in 6 months which is the equivalent of 10 workouts (or logins at the gym) a month.

Exactly! (or if i'm just lazy for a few months.... ROFL )
Re: Health Insurance Partially Reimbursing for Fitness & ...
Update: I just called the gym and they're running a special of about 30 bucks a month instead of the normal 50 and i could get locked into that rate. That's a pretty good deal.... Not this month for sure (see this post), but probably the next!
