The IP identifies your computer. If you use Gmail, you can see the last 5 IP's that logged into your account. (which is how I snagged them... in addition to them sending my emails to other people)
It took a LONG time, but the police have finally issued a subpoena to the ISP, so we'll see in 4-6 wks... maybe longer. As I live in a huge city with much bigger problems than someone breaking into my email, but even though it's been slow, I'm super happy it's finally moving forward... slowly.

What is a IP? Did you go to the police? If you can prove who it is I would think the police would go after them.
