I can understand why kids need to wear helmets but is it going to far to pass a law saying that boys need to wear athletic cups while riding bikes? Well that was brought up by Colorado Springs Republican rep Larry Liston. He argued that the helmet law did not go far enough. He stood up for an amendment mandating that boys who want to pedal or roll wear what he described as "a crush-resistant athletic cup." This was not only for bikes but also scooters and skateboards.
Now I'm curious how if this ever became law would be checked? I can see the pedophiles trying to get jobs with the cops so they can feel up some little kid looking for a cup. You can read more here: CLICKY
well I guess its all in their best interest really, but its true, how would you go about enforcing this law?
Here is a question for the guys....
How hard or unconfortable is it to sit on a hard bike seat wearing a cup? I would think it could dig some, however I honestly don't know.
First thought: That dudes wants the job of checking little boys to see of they have a cup on.
Second thought: Why would you need a cup on a skateboard or bike? I've racked myself very few times. When I have racked myself a cup would have made very little difference. I wore a cup in baseball and it sucks big time. Very uncomfortable but when balls are hurting toward your balls at such high speeds it doesn't take much convincing to put one on.
Third thought: Like all laws designed to hold my people down, first they have to catch me. I've only been caught twice in 22 years so good luck with that.
Ive ridden a bike to baseball practice before while wearing a cup and let me tell you it is not fun. Cups and bike seats dont mix together at all. It will smash your you kno...and ouch..stupid idea, I still think this is a joke..
i think all of this is jus down right rude, wen i was like 10 i rode my bike all the time 2 where i wanted, wen i wanted, seems like a fun kill if u ask me,
It is a crazy law but if they HAVE to wear one..the cup to wear is the new Spider Guard Web Flex Cup
Its a new flexible cup that is comfortable but STILL protects.
it helps with movement and range of motion...best of all it doesnt hurt!!!
Bike seats and cups don't mix. Wearing one could actually harm perineal nerves on long rides. This is the reason for cut-out seats and specialized bike shorts. So... someone in Colorado wanting to pass a law to potentially protect someones testicles. But hey - in that state motorcycle riders DO NOT have to wear head protection. Sounds like some priorities are skewed. Let's think about bare craniums traveling through the air at 70mph before we worry about testicles inside of clothing moving at 10mph.
Good points, I've always said that the person who's trying to create some new (ridiculous) laws are just trying to be able to go down in history with a law attached to their name. The country obviously already has way too many laws, so now they have to grasp for straws, like this one, to find something to create a new law about.
With that said, now it's JOKE time!
I wouldn't wanna be the cop who checks biker boys to see if they're wearing their cup! *ba dum chhh ...*
They don't call cops "the fuzz" for nothin'! *nerk nerk nerk*
They ARE forcing boys to wear helmets to protect their heads .. Colorado has always been an upside-down state ... *hyuk hyuk*
So much room for more jokes, but I need to wash my office .. (inside joke)
As a scooter rider, I have no problem I wear a cup when I ride and have no problem with others who make that choice. I think its wise and makes good support and protection. However its indeed a choice...how are they supposed to police this? I think we have enough laws...the helmet thing I totally get and you're an absolute fool to ride without one. But to check us now for cup "compliance" will simply be sick and is the government really overreaching its authority.

So I tell my boys this and what does my one say..... "Cool there is a hot female cop at school, maybe I'll start riding my bike so she can check me"
