Vicki Walker an employee of New Zealand's ProCare Health was fired for using ALL CAPS IN HER EMAILS. Vicki sued for wrongful termination and won the case. Apparently she had sent emails to fellow workers with instructions on how to fill out forms, and had used a combination of bold, red and all caps fonts.
I know how annoying it is to get an email that is in ALL CAPS, apart from it being considered that someone is shouting at you, its pretty difficult to read. From what I can tell she was just trying to get across to her co-workers how to follow a simple procedure. Did she sound rude and harsh? probably, but it didn't warrant getting fired. Was she being confrontational? possibly, how do you decipher when someone is being confrontational in an email? by the words they write? the "tone" of their writing, and how can you prove it
I'm glad she won her case, I think her firing was a complete joke.

WHY WHAT IS WRONG WITH TYPING IN FULL CAPS - WHO REALLY CARES? I MEAN ITS THE SAME WORDS ONLY BIGGER AND ADDING COLOR JUST MAKES IT PRETTY PERSONALLY I WOULD NOT GO WITH RED I WOULD GO WITH HOT PINK BECAUSE ITS SO PRETTY AND WELL I'M A GIRL AND WHILE WERE TYPING IN ALL CAPS HOW ABOUT NOT USING ANY PUNCTUATIONS AND MAKING HUGE RUN ON SENTENCES BECAUSE EVERYONE LIKES LOUD, PRETTY RUN ONS RIGHT - COME ON YA KNOW YOU DO - ADMIT IT OH OH OH LETS ALSO MAKE THIS BOLD AND GO WITH SOME LARGE FONT.
Ok enough of that I say can the email drama yelling queen. Geez after typing that I feel the need for aspirin or getting All caps do drive me nuts (my mom does that at times). Its ok the first one or two times but after forget it!
WOW AREN'T WE ALL IN A FUNNY MOOD TODAY.... CLOWNS, BOTH OF YA
I have a sneakin suspicion that this fire-ee has been getting on peoples nerves at her job for a while. Probably real bitchy all the time or something, and this was the final straw. I can't see them just suddenly sht-canning a person who's a great employee, productive, and just an all around helluva gal.
AGAIN (for the second time today ) I totally agree with that statement. This is probably not something that was a first time occurrence. This is most likely someone who is a miserable person around the office in general, someone who people avoid on a daily basis, the downer that finds fault with everything anyone does, the one people avoid in the lunch room, we have one in my office, shes a miserable b!tch and has hate in her heart (in my office, this person actually physically threatened someone). But she does do her job well, albeit in a mean manner.. its a catch 22 in situations like this, employers like that she does the job well but don't like the manner in which it is done. It's hard to get rid of someone like that, they have to weigh which is the bigger loss, the person who does this kinda thing or the loss they will suffer if they fire her. Good point DoGG!
