I agree with equal rights for everyone too, but the fact remains that it's just not the case (yet) in the real world unfortunately. I don't think the military is ready for that just yet. Maybe a few tolerance classes would be the way to start off before it's all put out in the open. As for saying goodbye at the unit, well not everyone does that anyway, I know a few spouses/sig others that prefer to say goodbye at home.
