I know there is alot of ppl out there that really wonder what does a tracker really show? So I thought it would be good to do a thread and only post examples of what each tracker shows. So with that I have 3 different trackers and I will post what they actually show - real examples. Of what they show and if they take you to a site that gives you additional information.

Now to keep this thread clean I ask that the only comment to be made is to show an example of a tracker. There are lots of trackers out there and lot of ppl that are really curious to what they show. So if you use a tracker that is not posted here please post a example of it. Please also mention if this tracker is a paid one or FREE and the URL to the trackers site.

Now for the sake of the person that you are posting (the example) please remove any personal information (such as thier IP, email and their myspace ID's).

add-on: I do want to mention that having a tracker is against myspace TOS (terms of service). I know that some don't know that so I did want to post that - so track at your own risk. Now with that said I can say I have had myspace on my profile a couple of times. In the past they have deleted my trackers but you know me I put them back on my profile. Well the other day (8-21-08) myspace deleted my profile...oops. So I did have to open a new myspace. For now I'm playing by their rules (for now).

To keep this thread clean and uncluttered please only post examples of what your tracker shows (if it is not already shown). This is so that others can get a idea of what trackers are out there. If you have a question about a tracker please ask in another thread or start a new thread ~ Here is a thread for questions: Tracker Questions (help)

SIDE NOTE: How do you block the trackers well there is a awesome forum on that: how-to-block-myspace-trackers

If you have a IP address and your not sure where it is here is a site that I feel gives you the closest hit to where it is coming from: MaxMind

This is Trackspace.net

This is Trackspace.net (Free). Now most of the time YOU have to identify the person but here is a example of one that is already identified.

edit (additional info): Trackspace will let you identify the ppl or if someone else identifies them it will show. I would say maybe 30% to 50% of the hits I get are identified, For a FREE tracker I would say its one of the best. One down side to this tracker is that lately the site has gone down some and if someone else has this they can opt to mark their account "private" meaning if you track them it will say it is marked private and not tell you who it is.

SiteMeter, ProfileViewsPlus, ProfileSnitch, StatCounter

SiteMeter

SiteMeter Home Screen

SiteMeter "Details" page

"By Location" View (It's the same list, in the same order, for the same users as you see in the previous "Details" page, but it provides the City and State information –handy when you're looking for a date

Individual Details about Users (kinda cool because it tells you stuff about the domain name, ISP, the number of page views the user pulled up in a single session, and the user's OS and Browser)

Traffic Projection (SiteMeter makes a guess about what your traffic will look like in the next Hour, Day, Week and Month)

ProfileViewsPlus

ProfileViewsPlus (I can't say that I recommend this tracker, but I do use it. ProfileViewsPlus has a lot of interruption ads, which are just irritating. Also, I took the liberty of highlighting something in this page view: it's the "Filter Out" options. By default, it seems, it wants to "Filter Out" almost everything by default when you sign in, so you have to make sure you uncheck these boxes to see your report)

If you click the little magnifying glass next to the user's IP address, it will show a list of the user's previous page trafficking on your site

That's it really. not much to it.

ProfileSnitch

ProfileSnitch (I don't suggest using this tracker. First off, it sucks. that is, it's below average in its ability to track users –many go unnoticed by this service. Next, its always trying to get you to its Premium Account. for which, it boasts, that you can get the invisible ProfileSnitch tracker. which leads me to my next point: the bright, strobing, fluorescent ads that they attach to the embed code are so loud and obnoxious that you'll be pissed to see them on your page. But, if you want to try it out for ishss and giggles, I'll show you how I altered the code so it doesn't have those nasty ads. This is an old account, I'm not using ProfileSnitch any longer because it's annoying, and I just don't like it. plus, it slows down my computer too.)

So, here is what the embed code looks like when you copy it from ProfileSnitch:

<a href="http://www.profsnitch-redir1.com"><img src="http://www.profsnitch-redir1.com/tracker24/64PK58KS05.gif" border="0"></a><br><a href="http://www.profsnitch-redir1.com">Track Who Is Viewing Myspace at <br> Profile Snitch</a>

To make things easier on myself, there's a suffix I use on every line of code that makes everything invisible: "border=0 height=0 width=0>". That way, I don't have to think and play around the with it too much, trying to figure out what's generating the ad. So, here's what the new would look like:

<a href=http://www.profsnitch-redir1.com border=0 height=0 width=0><img src="http://www.profsnitch-redir1.com/tracker24/64PK58KS05.gif" border=0 height=0 width=0></a><br><a href=http://www.profsnitch-redir1.com border=0 height=0 width=0></a>

There you go! If you wanna try out the invisible ProfileSnitch tracker, don't bother with a Premium Account. Save your money for a gallon of gas, and follow the changes I made, and you'll have it for FREE.

StatCounter

StatCounter (I know this tracker has already been touched on, but I have two different StatCounter "Projects”, one for MySpace, and one for Blogger. For Blogger, StatCounter works like a charm, providing better information than Google Analytics. I'd tell you about it, but I'm gonna show you instead. However, for MySpace, it doesn't do as well. the StatCounter embed code has two parts, an HTML and an XHTML code, and XHTML doesn't work in MySpace. Unfortunately, that happens to be the portion of code that gives StatCounter the ability to track where people are coming to your page from, what they're doing while their on your site, and where they're going while they leave)

This is an example of a "Recent Activity" report on StatCounter for my Blogger page. I've highlighted one of the lines so you can see the user's Referring URL.

However, this is a report from MySpace "Project." You'll notice that all the reports' Referring URLs read: "No referring link.”

It's too bad that StatCounter doesn't record the referring URL on a MySpace Profile, but it's still pretty cool. There's a lot of features on this site too. I could tell you about it, but it'd probably be easier just to check it out.

* special thanks to e-lite from grownupfreak who emailed these to me

This is profiletracker.us

This is a example of profiletracker.us (its a paid tracker at $5.00 a month)

Now when you click little IP button at the top right you are taken to MaxMind. For this one this is what I saw:

Then when you click on the little Firefox/IE logo button at the upper right it will analyze the persons browser string. What is a browser string? Well it will give you information on the persons computer. Its just one way to better identify the person. Like you can see if they are on a PC or Apple, what operation system they use (XP, Vista...) and some of the goodies they have installed on their computers. Here is what you see when you hit that button:

Then there is the button for "HITS". Some remember hits when it was a site open to everyone. Now the only way you can use HITS is to be a profiletracker member. Hits will look over their myspace. If its public or on your friends list then you can see if they have any trackers. You can also use it to get some more info that you might not else see. Its a awesome tool to use. Here is a example of what you can see with HITS:

edit (additional info): Now if that person is in their data base it will show who they are (meaning someone identified them or they were tracked with a older code that positively identified them). One other thing I really like is that you can search their data base to see it they ever tracked a person by either IP or myspace ID so that is a sweet feature. Is it a perfect tracker no but I am very happy with it. I would say it identifies (correctly) 75% of my hits. If it doesn't have that IP in the data it will do a "likely match" via their PC info which I find to be about a 50/50. Either way I think it is defiantly worth the $5. a month (after all what is that a trip to Mc Donalds).

BONUS with profiletracker.us is that you get to use HITS (hide in the sky) which allows you to get more information on a profile

For more information on profiletracker please see this thread: Profiletracker.us
