Facebook Virus

6 replies [Last post]

So i just received what i'm pretty sure is a something to lead me to a virus/phishing scam. my computer is pretty tightly secure though *whew* but some of yours might not be.

I logged into facebook and checked my messages, a friend's account it seems is hijacked. I got this message: Hey! you're on the news! followed by a VERY strange URL --a whole string of numbers & letters then followed by blogspot.com. I, being stupid for a second, clicked on it, when it was taking more than a second i X'd the browser right away. Running a virus scan right now to be sure.

I just looked on this friend's profile right now and it seems it truly is taken over--on his wall there are posts with the same sort of URLs to click "Hey you must see this video right now!"

I posted something on his profile to alert his friends to contact him and not to click the links.

So, just a reminder to be on the watch for things like this.

And now cell phone's aren't excluded either from viruses, etc--especially phones like the Smartphone!

Your profile looked fine to me (I just looked). Nothing stood out as odd or like it was taken over by any chance

Re: Facebook Virus

I saw something like this a while ago too, I just ignored it though. I never open links no matter who they're from unless I've been told by the person that it's safe to do so (and I know that person pretty well). But thanks for the heads up, I'll be keeping my eye out.

Re: Facebook Virus

I had two co-workers get this. One had her account phished and was spamming left and right. The other got a virus from her through an email link. Sucks. The phished account is an older lady. I had to go to her house to show her how to change her password and how to do a virus scan etc.
