Firefox freezing up. (Not Responding)

Ever since the last upgrade of Firefox(im not sure what version it is even) I constantly get a sort of frozen browser all the time and then I click, click, click and at the very top of the window it will say (not responding). Then if I keep clicking a few times it will eventually work, like it was starting to freeze but it came back to life.

Sorry if the explination sounds weird but that is the best way I can put it into my words for all you experts to try and understand what Im saying. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas about this?

Re: Firefox
I had a similar problem once before, and no one else seemed to. I googled the previous version of FF, and installed it, until the next upgrade occured with FF.
Probably not the solution you're looking for, but at least a suggestion.

Re: Firefox

I have the newer Firefox 3.0.6 and haven't had a issue. I've used it for a few months now. Have you tried to add fasterfox to it to see if that helps out?
FASTERFOX
Performance and network tweaks for Firefox.

Fasterfox allows you to tweak many network and rendering settings such as simultaneous connections, pipelining, cache, DNS cache, and initial paint delay.

Dynamic speed increases can be obtained with the unique prefetching mechanism, which recycles idle bandwidth by silently loading and caching all of the links on the page you are browsing.

Re: Firefox

Laughing that was the language of copy and paste from fasterfox's description Big Grin
Hey I was dealing with a sick kid so it was easy between sick kid cleanups (ugh). OK let me explain it just kinda helps you streamline your Firefox. It will also time how long it takes a page to load. It helps if your having issues with Firefox to make it run a little better. I hope that helps. Also you gave me my laugh for the day (more are welcome) and sorry again it was what they said on their site. Big Grin
oh and xoxoxox back at ya Wink

I have 3.0.7 version and had a few problems with crashes at first ! Usually asks me to close Firefox ! The one prob that I did have with Firefox this week is after I close it and go to use it again it will not let me open it and I have to goto task manager in windows and End process before starting Firefox again !

Re: Firefox

I have had a problem also with Firefox but mine is that when I close it and then try to reload it again I get the message with the words Firefox is already running etc etc etc. And sure enough in ctrl-alt-delete there it is. I never had this issue with the version before.

Re: Firefox freezing up. (Not Responding)

This is a problem I have been trying to diagnose for a while on and off. It's been happening on 2 different computers over multiple versions of Firefox.

Problem is, I run so many extensions that it's a huge headache for me to disable all of them, and then only enable one at a time, run FF for a while to see if it happens (to pinpoint a particular problematic extension) and then disable it, enable another extension and repeat until I may possibly find something.

I am suspecting it may be a Firefox Garbage Collection issue, but, I think it might be a lot easier to track it down if everyone with the problem pastes the extensions they use, and if we're finding that we all have a common extension, it might be the culprit.

Best way to paste all of your extensions is to add this FF extension: Extension List Dumper, and click the "Dump List" button on your addons list. Then Copy them all and paste them in a post in this thread.

Also, are you running Roboform?

Here is my current list of extensions:

Application: Firefox 3.0.7 (2009021910)
Operating System: WINNT (x86-msvc)
