Good morning everyone!
I got a new computer and I am in the midst of setting it up. I have a gmail account and I cannot log into it with using this new computer.
I still have my old computer and can log into it using it so I know the log in information is correct and hasn't been compromised.
I have cleared the cache done everything I possibility can think of and I still can not log into gmail with my new computer.
I am using Firefox and I am using Safari on the mac side of the computer.
Anybody have any ideas how to fix this? I googled it and nothing like the problem I am having.
Thanks!
Hi! The error message I am getting is that the username or password is wrong but I know for sure it isn't wrong as I just set up a notifier on this computer and it checks the mail with that information no problem.
I am wondering now that I said that about the notifier if that is what is causing problems.
Did you try to log into it via IE or not in Firefox? If your password and log in is correct you should be able to get in. I log into my gmail from many different computers with no issues. Also make sure you are using exactly what your password is - caps vs lowercase and sometimes the number 1 can look like a lowercase L.
Hi Debbie! No I didn't try IE for getting into gmail but I will now. I have never had this issue before and can't figure it out. I set up a notifier on this new computer and it checks the mail for that account just like another one I have at gmail and acts all the same but I can't log into it. On my old computer I can get in no problem.
Hey Sotr, I just came across this thread, did ya ever figure out the problem?
Hi U2,
I have had problems in the past with this myself and it turned out to be as simple as -logging out- on the first computer (and, any other login, on any other systems) before you login from a new terminal (computer) somewhere else,
I think it has to do with Googles own security settings , meaning that you cannot -login- on two systems at once until you have logged in on both systems individually and effectively "Registered" the system with your credentials , If I do not -log out- at home and leave my computer downloading a bit torrent , I cannot -login- at the local library for example (I have tried) I could be a "Hacker" and yet, I can still login on my Android phone because Google knows it is mine. (registered to me)
On the subject of Android phones , I also found that my computer would not let me -login- to Gmail from my computer when my phone was tethered to it for the simple fact that Gmail/Google was already accessed on my phone (Always), simply disconnect phone tether and instantly had access again, weird, but true.
I have also had this problem when a friend of mine logged in to Facebook from my computer and did not log out , leaving me without access until they logged in from somewhere else a few frustrating days later. (Their Facebook account was linked to a Gmail account)
So there you have it , you can access Gmail through Internet Explorer when this happens because Internet Explorer simply does not care about Google security policies.
Hope info helps, Regards, Ki113R
