OMFG! So, I thought I would pass this little gem on. I got a new DVD player (actually I got two of them) after a good friend bought some and loved them. Here's a link to it, below.
If I download a movie I simply throw it on a Flash Drive and woo la! I can watch it easily. I have 2 32GB flashes
so I can load those suckers up and keep the family entertained for some time. It's just so much easier than burning DVD's (which can be hit or miss with torrents).
Yes you can hook up an external usb hard drive to it, but it will only show 500 titles at a time, and well, for me a flash is easier. You can also hook it up with HDMI Cables so super easy (it does come with the standard cables). I loooove this player myself, but I highly recommend getting one as your kids DVD player since it's so cheap and plays anything you throw at it, and they'll adore you for the USB/DiVX ability, TRUST ME, I'm a mom,
Update: I've found it much easier now to use a huge external hard drive to store and organize all my downloaded / ripped movies (500GB) instead of a Flash Drive. Sooooooooo cool!
I'm gonna buy this today.
I didn't know they had usb ports on them nowadays that could do that. I'd use that ALL the time.
One question: lets say you have a bunch of regular files on your Flash Drive, but also throw a movie in divx format on it. Does it ignore the regular files and just give you some sort of menu just showing the movie files?
Or do you need a dedicated, movie only, Flash Drive for it?
Also, does it look into folders on the drive? i.e. if I put the movies in a folder instead of at the root of the Flash Drive, will it see them? Or do they have to go into the root folder?
well once you hit the usb button on the DVD player it will pop open a menu on the tv for you to choose from. Now I will say the flash has to be formated in Fat32 no NTSF (so keep that in mind). I use one flash that is dedicated for this only because my other flashes are NTSF. I have one kid home sick and his movie is almost over so as soon as it is I'll take a pic of it to show you.
I want one! Bad. But now these two posts *points up* makes my undeveloped brain hurt a little
My new plan... Wait for Dogg to get it, and let him decide if it's too advanced for me!
Oh critter if I can teach my dad who is 69 and half way blind (litterally) anyone can do it. Its really easy and just plain awesome! OK here is the screen shots of the TV (so you can see how it shows the menu):
and here is the remote - you simply push the button you get the menu above click on what you want to watch and woo la there is your movie or show. Simply WONDERFUL! They make other DVD players with USB but generally they are blueray and well very expensive. This DVD player is simply awesome with a cheap price tag!
you had me at hello.
then you lost me with the rest of these posts. stupid complicated dvd players...
Me too MIW!
We're like the special bus riders of the site apparently. It sounded SO nice... I could hear the angels singing this DVD players praise... then...... Well you know....
we really are!
smartmama dumbed it down a bit for us (see below post)..still...
why do i always end up feeling like this-
Ok I think I lost you on the chat with the format of the flash. Its really easy to see what format it is in or if you need to change it. Here is how to tell and how to change it: How to reformat a External Hard Drive or Flash Drive
Oh and don't worry a year and a half ago I was saying huh to and asking why I couldn't get a larger file on a external hard drive - so I had to learn. See that is the joys of a geek site that is not well 99.9% fluff - we can teach geek here!
Wow now that is my kind of DVD player, that is so perfect, I think I feel a purchase coming on !
Thanks for the info.
In a land of wonderous things...
