Son o'mine just sent me a .wps file. I guess its the word processing program he has on his computer, I am unable to open it 
Does anyone know how I can find a program to open it with ??

Well I was watching a video when you posted this so I'm just seeing it. I see you got it open but just in case someone googles this and wants to know its opened with Microsoft Works word processor

Yeah thats the program that he has, but now when I managed to open it and retrieve the text he said that a lot of it was missing

Depending on what version you have you might need to convert it. If you go to MS office site and search for works to word converter you should find some.
You can also hit up a friend 
to see if they can convert if for you if they have a different version of it and send it back to you but in like a notepad file
