A drop of water

2 replies [Last post]

A friend of mine posted this amazing video. I love science, discovery and physics especially about everyday items like a drop of water:

When a liquid drop impacts a solid, it spreads (up to the point that (kinetic) energy is dissipated by viscosity). Then, it will retract. Causing it to spread. However, quite different solids of angles of 180 degrees brings the kinetic energy of the impinging drop to be transferred to surface energy, without spreading. Allowing the drop to bounce.

Quite awesome!
