Ok I'm all for kids needing rules but this is way extream. I went to a ultra stick Christian private school up till the 10th grade then jumped ship to a much better more realistic school. My old school had no dances or proms but my new one did and I went to my jr and senior proms.
So if you were this parent or kid would you attend prom at the other school and risk it?
FINDLAY, Ohio – A student at a fundamentalist Baptist school that forbids dancing, rock music, hand-holding and kissing will be suspended if he takes his girlfriend to her public high school prom, his principal said.
Despite the warning, 17-year-old Tyler Frost, who has never been to a dance before, said he plans to attend Findlay High School's prom Saturday.
Frost, a senior at Heritage Christian School in northwest Ohio, agreed to the school's rules when he signed a statement of cooperation at the beginning of the year, principal Tim England said.
The teen, who is scheduled to receive his diploma May 24, would be suspended from classes and receive an "incomplete" on remaining assignments, England said. Frost also would not be permitted to attend graduation but would get a diploma once he completes final exams. If Frost is involved with alcohol or sex at the prom, he will be expelled, England said.
Frost's stepfather Stephan Johnson said the school's rules should not apply outside the classroom.
"He deserves to wear that cap and gown," Johnson said.

I should say please comment and bonus post your old prom pics (why not it would be fun - if someone post theres I'll dig out mine and post it). Post your pic is support of the kid in Ohio
I would do the same Sm.. Give him my permission to go then make a few phone calls just in case. I'd probably stop by and chat with the school board the following school day and leave a friendly business card from the attorney I just retained.
ALSO< this story has a familiar ring to it
SM, it time to own up and pull out the pictures!

ugh see yours was taken in this century mine well its 24 yrs old but I'll live up to my promise. I think you all look great! Ok so first I must say this was taken in 1985 - yes the years of the big hair and fluffy dresses.
I had to drag mine out and scan it - yeah that old No that is not my husband (almost was).
At this point I hope others post pics too. (Candyhart got any good pics of dogg at prom?)
Hehe. YAY SM! You looked lovely in this picture! Dunno what all the fuss was over!

I didn't get the "peach dress" memo. My date behind me is my first husband. Yes, I married a high school sweetheart
Pretty pretty pretty! I apparently was the only one that looked sh!tty in my prom picture.... Oh well. We never had professional ones done, because that meant time off the dance floor.
OH I love the pics! I went to both my proms but no clue to where the one pic is. those were the days!
My date behind me is my first husband. Yes, I married a high school sweetheart
Me TOO! He was also my Sr. prom date (and also my 1st husband). I'll search for pics.

If I was that kid HELL yeah I would attend the prom. You only get that chance once in a life time then its gone. Plus does the rules say you cant attend a prom or that you cant dance. What if he attends and doesn't dance?
What I love is that the principle is holding him to a letter he signed in the beginning of he year HOWEVER the principle signed the note saying he could go:
England acknowledged signing the form but warned Frost there would be consequences if he attended the dance.
as far as I see it the school signed that he could go. Isn't that kinda hypocritical? I mean really if they feel that strong they should have NEVER signed the permission. I think now both of those letters (the one the kid signed at the start of the year and the prom letter the principle signed) mute out each other. If he goes and is booted I hope he sues the school. If it was my kid (not that I would send my kids to a school like that) I would say son go have a great time at prom. Then call my lawyer.
