hi, does anyone know where in the filesystem Windows 7 stores all of it's themes? There are some images that came with Windows that I want to delete but can't find them. They show up in some of the themes that auto-switch wallpapers like a slideshow.
Themes are in C: Windows --> Resources --> Themes. Not sure where individual backgrounds are kept.
Individual wallpapers are in C: Windows--> Web --> Wallpapers.
Looks like the path I mentioned only stores the custom theme(s) there.
in tools select to show the hidden folders then go to
c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\microsoft\themes\THEMENAME\desktopbackground
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
there are two locations that you need to alter for some setting changes, but this is where you would put new themes- you can also download themes direct to the themes folder using the desktop personalisation function.
Hi,
If you are still looking the themes are all stored in a folder C:\Windows\Globalization\MCT
This is a hidden folder but if you right click on the desktop and select New .> Shortcut and type this in you will get a shortccut to the MCT folder.
By default there are five folders:
If you open any of these folders you will find a folder with the country name e.g. United Kingdom. You should recognise the pictures inside.
The slideshow images are in a folder here: C:\Windows\Globalization\MCT
Right click on destop and select New>Shortcut and copy and pate the path above in. There are by default 5 folders. If you open one you will find another folder with the country name. e.g. MCT-GB will have a folder called United Kingdom. The Wallpaper slideshow images are in here.

If you go to: C:\Users\<User>\appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes
you'll find the themes, however I don't think the pictures are stored there. I'll have do some snoopin around on my puter to find where those are and post a follow-up, unless someone hopefully beats me to it
